200 GeV IN STAR

We present measurements of the transverse momentum spectra for K 0 S , Λ , Ξ − and their antiparticles in p+p collisions at √ s = 200 GeV. The extracted mid-rapidity yields and pT are in agreement with previous p + ¯ p experiments while they have smaller statistical errors. We compare the measured particle spectra and pT values to predictions from the PYTHIA leading order pQCD model (v6.221) and see significant disagreements with the default settings. Finally we compare the spectra to the latest calculations from NLO pQCD and see a good agreement for the K 0 S , but large discrepancies Λ .

Results are presented of an ongoing analysis of direct photon production in √ sNN = 200 GeV deuteron-gold collisions (d+Au) with the STAR experiment at RHIC. A significant excess of direct photons is observed near mid-rapidity (0 < y < 1) and found to be consistent with next-to-leading order pQCD calculations including the contribution from fragmentation photons.

Preliminary results of the analyzing power for the production of forward, high-energy π 0 mesons from collisions of transversely polarized protons at √ s = 200 GeV from STAR are presented. The kinematic ranges covered by the data are x F ≈ 0.2 − 0.6 and p T ≈ 1 − 3 GeV/c. The analyzing power at √ s = 200 GeV is found to be comparable to that observed at √ s = 20 GeV.

We present preliminary results from a two-pion intensity interferometry analysis from Au+Au collisions at √ s NN =200 GeV measured in the STAR detector at RHIC. The dependence of the apparent pion source on multiplicity and transverse momentum are discussed and compared with preliminary results from d+Au and p+p collisions at the same beam energy.
